Poem -

Lingering lunacy of a long life

I used to know a man who was dear to my heart
His odd behavior was routine
I thought he was truly that goofy from the very start
As time went on his voice was silenced
His eyes stayed shut
But his heart beat still was prominent
This disease left him an empty shell
Wanting to wither but how could the future actions be so clear?
His personality and soul were gone
A heartbeat in an empty host
A face loved by so many people that were so close
You started this family
You built this home
Your presence will never die
Even if you are not here
You, yourself I knew not so well
I was too young to grasp your complete character
But I was told you were swell
In the after life I'll find you
We'll talk because there will be no end
That's all I've ever wanted
Was to get to know you, my dear friend.
