Little Blue World

Little Blue World

I wonder if she remembers

Our little blue world

I wonder if she remembers

The jewels of life's journey

The magnificent splendor

Of a deep setting sky

On the icy horizon,

On the blood meridian,

So raw and imposing

Sea- faring and reaching

From eye to eye

Across vast expanses

Across charred remains

Of a dim cooling ocean.

I wonder if her skin

All lit up in moon beams

Incandescent, reflective

Might still be as soft

As a dark midnight rain

Falling, flowing

Richly ornate

Melt upon a touch.

I wonder if her moans

Of passion and delirium

Rail upon the shoulders of others

As I wish them to be

The souls of young poets

Hastily scrawled

A word or two

Lightning in a bottle

Or any old way to capture

That caricature of superstition

Dramatic recombinations

Of stars, luna, ancient worshippers

Easy to be

Incantations

Intrepid ceremonies

Of augmented spirits

Losing logic

Inside of a dream

Wish I could run

Inside of a void

Ears peeled

For thunderous echoes

Fulfillment in kind

Or even a whisper

Controlling the sun

O beautiful nothing

O love in retreat

O heart

Don't fail me now.
