Little Sparrow

Love soft as gossamer wings,
Poised on vicarious heartstrings.
To bestow a gift to a heart,
Longing for buoyant impart

Ode from this little bird,
Gingerly sang a sweet word.
Perched in niche gilded cage,
Braving rebuff by heckler rampage.

So trusting, door slams secured,
Insecurities selfishness procured
Imprisoned love, lock it away,
A prized asset for display.

So dependent, like a crutch,
Profess it just hurts too much.
A weary bird refuses to sing,
Freedom recanted deficient sting.

Dueling personalities collide,
Timid bird escapes steely reside.
Closing down that vulnerable part,
That gentle pulsate within a heart.

Fleeing from an unwelcome stage,
A melody silenced in an empty cage.
Without love music will abstain,
A downy feather craves a refrain.

Love is a very essential part.
Fluttery wings in a heart.
Performed via liberties waged,
Croon little sparrow uncaged.
