Lockdown America

I spoke with someone today
listened to what they had to say
About the Great Old American way
and to the Supermarket God we pray

How lives of youth are lost on foreign soil
not for freedom but for the need of oil
Generations of people remain imprisoned
is this what the founding fathers envisioned

Welcome to the corporate police state
pay your taxes lest you suffer this fate
What is free about America today
when we're bound by advertising's sway

No longer esteemed for who we are
but in our driveway; the type of car
All of my freedoms have been taken away
because I refused to do what the police say

Beaten are we all into submission and order
least they take away our goods, our stuff
No wonder we've become such hoarders
when my friends will it be enough

Must it be this way
must it continue
Or will we grow boldĀ
making our lives the venue
