Locked In His Own World

Locked In His Own World

I hear you - I'm not totally immune, like my son,
you could hear his world coming full of tinkly fun;
I had mine - someone said I was a peculiar child,
but she was an asshole, enough to make anyone wild.

There's this syndrome - 'Don't speak ill of the dead,'
but it can be a fallacy, the old film put it all to bed -
'The Big Chill' was a perfect example, do you remember?
They all sat around afterwards, saying what a bastard.

Of course, we can gloss over but you know it's just fake,
how do you accept someone who took what he could take?
Compassion is a strange animal - forgive seventy times seven,
you may have short thrift if you're lucky to get to heaven.

My deaf friend said that sometimes he'd really had enough,
it was nice and convenient to just turn the hearing aid off.
