Lofty

I love animals, and this one liked me!
A little intimidating; this walking tree.
I would scratch his ears; when he'd bend down,
My chin avoiding the rise of his crown!

He seemed to think he was going for a ride,
Really! come on dude; you can't fit inside!
If you let me go; I'll give you a treat!
I've got it with me; just don't step on my feet!

I'll give you a name and call you; Lofty,
I can't go with you; you can't leave with me.
He was never about to offer me a ride,
His back? a spotted shifting, sloping, slide!

Guess he was lonely; this cute little guy,
We were never going to see eye to eye.
