Love and Depression
Why dost thou write about love and depression?
methinks that you must have an obsession,
gets thine act together with better endeavour,
we are tired of your perpetual gloomy weather.
I can give youst more love than youst dreamed,
your pathetic trough is not as bad as it seemed;
my friend Shelley said: 'Why do these futurists write,
when most of those work is nothing but shite?'
With all their technology, they canst not produce
a 'piece,' scattered metaphors nothing but loose;
they seemst just to 'wander lonely as a cloud,'
denying failure because theyst all so proud.
Speak to me before you even attempt to write prose,
and then youst may boast: 'my love is like a red, red rose.'

Hi Terry. Great verses! Writing prose is how I normally write. Doing rhyme in verses is something I have just tried more recently. I get it, it works but I also like having no restrictions!! Anyway I'm still learning!!
You're rhyming is very good in verse!! Have you done prose?

Hi P,
Yes, I have - some people write a 'book.'
I like a mix- perhaps I'll take some advice
from Shelley!
Thanks for comment.

There's just that inescapable link, isn't there, between love and poetry...depression too. I guess it is because poetry, more than any other art form, relies on grabbing the readers emotions. I read once, from some famous writer (and for the life of me, I cannot remember who), who said that poetry about bliss and happiness falls flat against that of angst and betrayal. It might be true or it might be that the guy is just a manic depressive himself. Who knows. Great write from you, though x
Thanks so much Being - it's a
good point. However, many wiil continue
to document regardless.
Therefore regards!
