Love starts within

It’s 5am and I turn the radio up,
Because once again I failed at love.
I cry in my car to every single verse,
It displays a message of putting yourself first.
 

I recognize where I always go wrong,
About sixty seconds into the song.
I never go for what I simply deserve,
Because I do not have any nerve.

I’ve been shy for far too long,
It’s something that I need to work on.
I need to break out and have more hope,
And no longer be bounded by so many ropes.

I understand why I am bad at love,
It’s because of my confidence and the lack thereof.
I need to be strong with all of my choices,
And listen to all of my inner voices.

They say,
When it comes to yourself quit being so hard,
You have made it incredibly far.
You are beautiful and truly a catch,
And one day you will find your match.

I grew up seeing love at a distance,
When it came to my heart I never listened.
The key started with understanding my worth,
And that’s when I witnessed a rebirth.

I started to care less about seeking a man,
And I began to run as my feet hit the sand.
I ended up where the sun always shines,
And the love for myself could never fall behind.

Because once you are at peace within,
You will find that in life you will win.
You just have to worry about no one but you,
And eventually the happiness will come through.

Looking for love in someone else isn’t needed,
It’s time to work on all the mistreatment.
That you evoked on your own soul,
And take it all as a lesson to finally grow.
