Lucky Linda

Lucky Linda

One day as a lad, at the harness races, I was losing and needed a big lift;

So I decided a longshot, the next race to bet, it was “Lucky Linda” in the fifth!

And sure enough, she won it, and paid me handsomely;

At the time I did not realize, how important her name would be!

Three decades passed by quickly, and so did three ex-wives;

Just like at that old horse race, I needed a winner to survive!

Then one night while jockeying for position, at a club with mares in all their gates;

I saw one that I thought that I should bet on, and ask her for a date!

I ponied up to her and smiled, and asked her for her name;

Her reply took me back three decades, and this night seemed just the same!

For she said, “My name is Linda, and I’m “lucky” that you asked”;

“Would you care to have this dance with me, or prefer another lass”?

That was twenty-three great years ago, and we’ve been dancing ever since;

And our souls taught each the Tango, and our hearts were both evinced!

Of course, this “Lucky Linda” was the just fourth one, but I’ll never need a fifth;

‘Cause we’re in it for the long run, two loves, to soon become a myth!

I loved this piece, it told a lovely story and just shows that there really is a soulmate out there for each of us. I wish you both many more years of happiness together.
