Lunatics Lament

Lunatics Lament

Hear them screaming in the halls?
See them climbing up the walls?
Shit and piss perfume the air;
wild-eyed puppets stand and stare.

Sharp syringes sting and stick,
bloated veins, they prod and prick.
Brains fried with high voltage prongs
keeping us where we belong.

Rainbow cocktails, swallow hard.
Wrists cut, broken, mirror shard.
Life leaks from an angry wound.
Souls forsaken, left marooned.

Ultracrepidarians
think they’re more than mortal men.
Doctors dispense hurt and pain.
Here they come–they’re back again.

Moonlight glowing, padded room
this place will become my tomb.
Restless cries throughout the night.
God, I look like hell in white!

Yes, I do believe that's so, Greg. But only as long as the hospitals in question are well-staffed and give good, humane treatment to those placed in their care.
I have a couple of friends who I KNOW shouldn't be walking around unattended.
Thanks so much for reading, my friend.
