Magpie

Magpie

Dawn breaks
Crow speaks
Caw! Caw! Caw!

From bedroom peek I
At garden below
No blackbird no starling
No blue tit no sparrow

But looking forlorn
A lonesome magpie
No friend no partner
To chatter to nearby

Standing on fence
Whence down to ground
Floating glancing
This way and that
Ā
In two seconds flat
Airborne once more
And up-soaring
