Magpie

Magpie

Dawn breaks
Crow speaks
Caw! Caw! Caw!

From bedroom peek I
At garden below
No blackbird no starling
No blue tit no sparrow

But looking forlorn
A lonesome magpie
No friend no partner
To chatter to nearby

Standing on fence
Whence down to ground
Floating glancing
This way and that

In two seconds flat
Airborne once more
And up-soaring
