March Madness

You’re probably thinking this is about basketball, the tournament soon to be;
But the ball is bouncing differently, as you soon all will see!
For this poem deals with the weather, that fast approaches, in a storm;
With temperatures so abnormal, twenty degrees below the norm!
.
We thought that when “Phil of Punxsutawney”, said Winter soon would end;
His prediction was reliable, and on it, we could depend!
But today, there comes a blizzard, tomorrow temperatures drop to eight degrees;
Which will feel like less than zero, if there is a little breeze!
.
So, it’s get back out the parkas, the mittens and the gloves;
Because soon, it will be snowing, from the cloudy skies above!
“March Madness” came far too early, ten days before it should;
We’ll be snuggling in our living-room, and burning firewood!
.
.
Early March Madness
That’s the way the ball bounces
Can’t bank on nothin’

Our Dear Greg,
This has to be Winter's last hurrah. It's been a long one, our second since moving to Ohio. We hope, one day soon, we will see our last.
All our love,
Linda and Larry xxx
Hello Larry...
Imagine how much colder it would be if we didn't have global warming...
You used to live there perhaps being in Florida so long you forgot...
I have been away from Massachusetts for over twenty years and people ask me all time to move back...
That's hilarious!
I said okay call me when it doesn't snow in Winter...
No one has called me all winter from there...
?????
Stay warm!
Great write!
Thank you for sharing...
Hugs...

My Dear Sparrowsong,
Global warming not only brings warmer temperatures, but also "extremes". So Winter storms can actually be a product of it, just like hurricanes, fires and heat waves.
You know Linda was from Massachusetts too, Belmont, which is next to Cambridge. The reason we moved to Florida, was we were snowbirds, having just spent four months there, came home the end of March, and four days later, got bombarded with a thirty-four inch blizzard. We had been thinking about moving there, and that was the deciding factor.
Love,
Larry xxx
