Medals in a Metal Box

Medals in a Metal Box

Fighting for our country those words seem so easy to say
Though in reality those words are tough for many in remembrance of those who gave
Their hearts, their souls, their lives, sons, grandfathers, grandmothers, daughters, fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts, cousins
Those that have served those that deserve much more than
Writings in a history book, engravings on a wall, museums filled with artifacts, memories, more than parades
American flags wave strong, the tears of those that lay their head
With honorary stones upon the graves
Medals in a metal box can not bring them back or bring them home
What means the most in the end is honor and respect
Knowing they risked their lives to save ours
Take the time to shake a military veterans hand today
Pride should never stand alone those in war those deployed
Pray for all and open the medals in the metal box and display them
Next to their photographs remembering
For they are and were the true brave
