Mistakes

I have made a horrible mistake
And I realize the error of my ways
As I sit here on this glassy lake
I wish that I could rewind the days
I realized my mistake
Just a little too late
As I look back down that feeble path
The one I took, A long time back
I begin to realize the aftermath
Now I know what I lack.
The mistake of the past
Will not be my last
For I seem to love the pain
Of reality proven fake
With a heart of disdain
I still yearn for your hand to take.
If you could give me one more chance
I know I can make it right
I can show you a true romance
I could control myself with all my might
I love you
But there is nothing I can do
I have made a horrible mistake
And I realize the error of my ways
As I sit here on this glassy lake
I wish that I could rewind the days
I realized my mistake
Just a little too late

The difference between stepping stones and stumbling blocks along the pathways of life depends solely on the perception of the one doing the walking, ConflictedSoul42.
We all make mistakes, as none of us is perfect. The key is to use our mistakes as learning tools so that we do not keep making the same mistakes over and over again.
Nicely written—powerfully penned.

This is the truth, everything is a matter of perspective, especially how we see our paths. Your response was excellently philosophical.
Our mistakes and misfortunes are learning experiences, yes, however they're so situational most of the time that it's hard to see the signs of something similar approaching. I have a bleeding heart, and sometimes it's not so easy to stem the flow. I think I finally found someone to cauterize the wound I cannot close alone. Only time and patience will tell.
