M'lud

M'lud

You would have to take a walk with me
At least, for a mile
to get why I seldom smile

You would understand me if you were me;
why I take forever to make the journey
My boots are damn heavy

I see in pessimistic colours
Clots of sorrow clog my veins
I’m pregnant with pain

There’s a history to my manners
A reason behind my reasoning
It’s been betrayal, abuse, and suffering

You won’t send me to jail to languish
if you understood my language,
M’lud, please give me your ears
before I end behind your bars for years
