Poem -

Moon

For Greg Etsell, inspired by Barcarolle

Moon

Moon
Softly loom
Your silver hues

Elude my minds eye
Where loves sweet tune-
Blooms out and cries

From hearts that croon
In dreams which bind

Find
Entwine
Your twilight haze
So I may bathe

Brave to soak into your light
Oh moon
Bring forth the blessed night

Covet me
In your star spangled canopy
So I may see

Betwixt your luminous allure
Within the confines of your tranquil sea

The hidden treasures
Which conceal
Your Sanctuary

I seek and endeavour
To savour
Your celestial flavour

Trip the heart
With your cosmic spark
Where true love
Shall never waver

Oh moon
Gently unfold my dreams
Drift me into lovers streams
Till morning breaks your lulling song
To rip me from whence I belong

Written after talking with Greg about his lovely poem called The Gypsy Dancer. Which made me think of my favourite song in the choir I was in. The song is Barcarolle. Which I have shared a video. Thank you Greg for your inspiring write

Thank you Shaun :) Yes Greg is a lovely poet on here. I am always amazed at how inspiring everyone on here is. It is a lovely place to be. Thank you for your lovely words and support as ever :) I love that song. My sister and I shared a bedroom. We were both in the choir. We would lay in bed singing Barcarolle together :)

Gwen what a fantastic write. And a lovely tribute to one of the kindest souls on Cosmos. Passionate and professionally written verse in this one. Showcasing true perspective, that not all brilliant poems have blank rhyme schemes.

I especially enjoyed,

Find
Entwine
Your twilight haze
So I may bathe

Just simply effortless in the connections between the lines here and throughout your work. Beautiful beautiful poetry Gwen. Love it! Hope you are well my friend~

A beautiful write Gwen contains a dreamy peacefulness untill the last lines...

'Oh moon
Gently unfold my dreams
Drift me into lover streams
Till morning breaks your loving song
To rip me from whence I belong'

.....untill we wake....
Your choice of words and tempo conjure a poignant atmosphere throughout this marvelous piece, I'm sure Greg will be chuffed to have been the inspiration for you to put pen to paper...beautiful my friend ❤️

Hello lovely 💗
You spotted my little nod to not wanting to wake up. For dreams can be the nicer place to be. I am not surprised you picked up on this my friend. Thank you for your attentive words. It’s amazing how other people’s works and our conversations can trigger the mind to write

Hugs 💗 xoxo

Hi, Gwen, this strongly reminds of several favorite and fond memories shared with my wife, like once perhaps twelve years ago I was driving home from a client run, having my wife on the car phone who was doing the same about 150 kilometers North of me and watch a full moon rise together. Or back in 1998 in Ireland at Old Head of Kinsale watch the Moon light a path on the Atlantic. Thanks for reminding me. 🎑🙏
