Morning Has Not Broken

Morning Has Not Broken

It's still dark, at the end of your dreams,
when you were watching Vincent painting sunflowers,
looking at Leonardo adding the Mona Lisa's smile,
it wasn't new, they'd been there all the while.

Realizing how much love you were surrounded with,
the gifts you had been given to use from your paintbox,
you could feel patches on your soul, they were tactile,
it wasn't new, they'd been there all the while.

You wish for more, think that it's not enough,
there is no need, how lucky you are to touch the sky,
do not return, reach forward in your own style,
it wasn't new, love had been there all the while.

Then I knew, morning can come now, I'm ready,
to love you, as I see lightening shades of indigo blue.
