Morning Run

Morning Run

Cold air encourages me to keep on moving
the sharp sting of the fresh morning weirdly soothing
My shoes hit the pavement in a continuous pound
like a constant metronome as I count to the sound

with forty percent physical challenge and sixty percent mental
my running memories are always sentimental
from the time I was seven with my dads iPod player
running is part of who I am, its one of my layers

Some people will dread it and think of it as a chore
but when I am done running it leaves me hungry for more
I feel free to just ponder and think about things
it allows me to consider all my mood swings

It gives me the chance to physically check out
it's a simple task that leaves you without doubt
No kicking a ball
or jumping up tall

You just have to stay on the sidewalk
listening to God talk
and then as your energy begins to wane
this is when you really begin to train

push yourself harder and harder than before
and when you think your done run some more
don't slow down unless its a matter of survival
and even then your pace should have a quick revival

This is a sport that should be about you
this is something you should choose to do
self-control is a key part of this activity
and even if you can't quite reach your goals still treat yourself with civility
