Mother Nature’s Cruel Body

These cheeks have been the riverbed
For the streams of tears that flow
Not to the ocean.

These hands have been the fault lines
That quake and tremble
Out of residual fear.

This smile has been the mirage
Of water in a hot, dry desert
Faking pleasantries.

This heart has been the hunted prey
Of a merciless hyena
Laughing at his kill.

This mind is trying
To figure out how to remain
Just a mind.
