Mr Sandman ?

Where on earth does grit come from that collects in your eye ?
Is there really a sandman
That can magically fly

Hes been to sprinkle some
Into mine
Tiny morsels of grit Oh so fine
But I wasn’t alseep, I have not yet slept
I’m sure I would have heard him
Even if he had crept

What does he look like
Is he a she ?
They must be mischievious
How dare it bother me
I am going to catch him
Into a net
I have it under my pillow
I’m all armed & set

I will not harm him
I’m only curious you see
Yet I will take his photograph
Then set him free
That’l teach him a lesson
Surely he will not come back
With his handful of sand
To my eye & attack
