Musical Backtrack

Musical Backtrack

When was the first music - some ape playing a lyre?
Did we have to wait for the classical guys to inspire?
Or was it the wind in the trees with a symphony,
lifted you up, took you away in the key of C.

Of course, there was a lute at court, usually one,
some harlequin with a tasseled hat sitting on his bum,
the king would say: 'Amuse me, play soothing airs,
if they're not, you'llĀ go to the tower where no one cares.

A few twangy strings from the good old forest,
followed by jungle drums sending a message;
now, Buddy was on a plane, things would never
be the same again, we just couldn't be together.

Before the mountain struck, I said: 'Don't stop the play,'
he grinned at me and said: 'That'll be he day!'
