My America

children are crying people are dying 
students are getting shot, “it won’t happen again” that’s all they got 
school was supposed to be safe now it’s filled with hate 
“make America great” let me demonstrate 
its our second amendment right to own gun 
some people are shooting people just for fun 
these laws were created before the modern age 
but we need change at this stage 
you turn on the new and all you hear is tragedies 
has this truly become our reality 
race against race, we can’t look each other in the face 
cops arresting people without probable cause 
your job is to protect people not change the law
nothing will change if people of the reds and blues won’t listen 
we should be united as one, but we couldn’t be more distant 
we can change if people get past their egos and need for green is that so obscene 
life maybe hard now but when we work together rather than being at war 
because we all deserve so much more
