My Dearest Treasures

Deep inside my jewlry box are treasures of the past
My locket I once wore long ago my love in my teens a gift I remember
For I engraved his initials next to mine and a picture next as well
Now that has since past but it is kept inside this box at last and never to be gone
My mothers charm bracelet I have always loved her initials on it mean so much
And then there is my fathers pocket watch in which he kept most time with all
My grandmothers brooch she would wear to church every sunday on the dot
An then there is that special ring my boyfriend gave to me, a high school ring
He told his mother he had lost, because the cost so great, he loved me so much
Then when I dig just a little bit deeper, my dearest treasures be, my dog tag from
My love so sweet, a marine named Ben, he now is gone and only the tags remain
I love this dear old treasure chest from memories far between, they mean so much
A purple heart from my grandfather from World War II he was a fallen hero indeed
And each time I open this chest I will think of thee, oh my loves lost and dear sweet
Memories of the life gone and the ones yet to enjoy my souvenirs so sweet and yet
So near and far away, for nothing can take these tokens of my moments in time
With all who I have enjoyed and still hold dear to my heart evermore
My dearest treasures ever, and ever it be
