My Fix

My Fix

There have been so
many things I've tried
to keep from feeling low,
to forget the reasons I've cried.

I thought to make
beautiful, green Mary Jane
my new friend, for my heart's sake.
Alas, she failed in keeping me sane.

Sipping on booze,
brought me hazy sights.
The emptiness I did not lose
reminded me of all my lonely nights.

You came along,
an amazing new fix.
My heart began singing a new song
as you showed me new tricks.

Such a great distraction
from my current state of mind.
Such strong attraction
you've helped me to find.

My soul heaves a sigh
even as it's confused.
only you've helped my pain. Why,
Of all the things I've used?
