My Heart's a Cement Block

My Heart's a Cement Block

My heart’s a cement block
Great weight it bears
Shackles stymie in silence
Screams of Ishmael I can only hear

My heart’s a cement block
I am a ship at sea
Oceans of topaz awaits and shimmers
But my heart plays the anchor and moors me

My heart’s a cement block
Encumbered, I am slave
Rivers of rubies calcified
Composing crimson caves

Babe chips away, adorning the ashen
With a chisel so careful, exploring the cracking
Babe’s hands so smooth could turn concrete to debris
His toiling propitious all to deliver me

My heart’s a cement block
Babes labour all in vain
My heart’s a cement block
Eschew me, my dear urethane.
