My hero

He coat kept me warm
his breathe gave me hope
His voice gave me direction
His hands had me a weapon
His eyes gave me a sense of connection
His smile gave me laughter
His skills gave me protection and hunted food
His speed gave me time
His face gave me feeling
His voice sent attention
As mine did as by one name
He was my best friend
With his brown coat
Waving his long old tail
As he ran threw the muddy grounds
Swooshing up his short legs
As the guns fired
And he had said his final last goodbye
