why can't they disappear or simply wash away as water down a drain

Why can't I love each the same
Why hearts broken and dreams swept stray 
Regret 
Fear
I learn

I try 
And I fail 
I speak good
but not before evil 
I respect 
After have disrespected
I hold on to things
