Poem -

My Love

Heartstrings linked but quickly severed.

Love that couldn't hold its tether.

Roots pulled from the nutrient ground

And shattered feelings all around.

My love ripped from my grasping arms.

Comforting words have lost their charm.

Swaddled by this crushing grief

I cry all day and get no sleep.

I’ve wished a different destiny

upon ever fallen eyelash I’ve seen.

Upon dozens of coins in a wishing well

in the hopes that my heart may swell

and feel some flicker of relief

and even though the days have been so brief

I know this feeling to be true.

I unconditionally, unreservedly, completely, utterly love you.

And now,

our old married souls trapped in these bodies are torn from each other by the necessities of their true forms.

And though things will never be the same

I hope we’ll stay as close as you claim.
