"My Old Enemy"

"For days I have been mourning,
my drug of choice,
even entertaining in my brain,
it's usage,
has given it a much stronger voice.

I have to give up the insane notion,
that it will fix everything,
like alcohol,
is some kind of miracle potion,
because it is one of the numerous reasons,
why I came to this place.
My God the devastation wrought by me upon me,
only for a simple mind altering taste.

This isn't just a game,
my life hangs in the balance,
and I chose new life over my old inner pain,
Now that that is known,
I am coming to grips in my brain,
that I need to turn my face away from the bottle,
whether my life is sunny, foggy, or drenched down in the rain."
