In the Naked Valley

The spirits of the fire, the sun, the earth, now naked to my feet
I feel the native soul of my ancestors, the skeleton of the past
The wounds buried, though they still hurt inside my mind
I cry like the wolf, and my four legged friends hear my voice
The wild of the flowers, the wet of the rivers and the lakes, take me back
To my place in the woods, the forests, the trees, the pine scent and the nectar
Of the wild fruit and berries, we would gather, feed our families, look unto
The valley and know that we belong, to the sky, to the earth, and the wind
It calls our name, for the wings of the eagle protect our every name
Let this valley never forget, as I will never forget it

Thanks for your comments and support, I am part native American, Cherokee, on my grandparents side of my fathers. Love writing this way, and so glad you could appreciate my thoughts.
