N.C. Summer Moon

N.C. Summer Moon

A most amazing creation the moon is,
an amazing human accomplishment
to land on the moon
by the manned
Apollo 11 crew
in 1969.

“One small step for     man,
one giant leap                          for mankind.”

As I sit by the beach
on this summer evening
by the ocean
in North Carolina
under the                     full,      round,     bright
                                                               moon,
lighting up the froth
of the ocean waves,
on the bench next to me
is Neil Armstrong - and
I say nothing to him,
and swing my legs
like a little kid.

We look at the             full       round,          bright
                                                                   moon
together.

I, Buzz H. from
Long Island,
and the first human
to walk on the              full       round,           bright
                                                                     moon.

As I look at the
“man in the moon,”
I sit next to the
first man to walk
on the moon.
I am in heaven.

Note:  This story was shared with me by a member of the Baldwin Long Island United Methodist Church in 1989.   He is a retired 6th grade teacher.
