Never There

Why weren't you there for us never, not once, not even at all.
Why weren't we enuff for you?
We never knew just what to do.
We never felt that love that should come from within a mother.
We never experienced a nurturing like no other.
While you ran off to gallivant with the others (the important ones) you left us at home to play with daddy's guns. 
A parent is something us kids never had, we couldn't even be close to our own dad.
The disease of addiction will ruin all of the family innocence and leave behind a train wreck of dissidence.
It's such an evil it ripped our family to shreds.
There was nothing left it completely left us for dead.
"The baby is crying mommy don't you hear her?" No you don't, you only go right back to the person you once were.
You were never there but that's not all, you and daddy always ended up in a big brawl.
I ran away as fast as I could but nobody would help us at least not like they should. 
Our home was shattered and broken. I just wish that they only could've heard the words we left unspoken. 
Mommy and daddy please hear us out and come back we  are like wolves still needing the leaders of the pack.
Tomorrow is gone n yesterday is never coming back.
Sweet family outings you say we had them but all I remember is a child that was always in fear and doubting. 
We grew up as rough as it gets but I'll never forget when dad took his last breath.
So much they could've done better but to this day the tears only continue to make our eyes wetter.
Mom is still a victim of this devil she just won't face it and I dunno if she'll ever have the guts to get on that sobriety level.
so now we're grown and I must say I wish I could miss our home in the bay, But I'll never revisit those years, this is my proof we've lived til the end.
New chapters and beginnings we have to let our families know we are always down to play those extra innings.
Hell is what we have spent a life long endurance in now it's time to  teach them that we are nothing like what they have previously been.----Crystal dawn cox 2017
