New Eyes

New Eyes

You opened my bookĀ
And I showed you all my pages
I showed you the pages that were nothing but scribbles and lines
But still I hoped you wanted to read on
But you didn't

You ripped out the rest of the pages
Not caring what happened next
My pages were delicate and scathedĀ Ā
You showed me that my strength would always waver.

But now I’m just a girl, just like the ones before,
And just like the ones after
Its funny how beauty diesĀ
The second someone tells you it does.

But now I see the new eyes of a girl who once was me.

Ā
