New Year! New You!

New Year! New You!

The clock chimes a new beginning
A January smile with promise brimming
The air is thick in good intention
for self improvement, others too polite to mention

From reflection in a mirror true
is the obvious ' there's far too much of you'
So time is nigh to join a gym
or at least give up the wine and gin

For once a body to be praised
now requires a small crane to be raised
No maybe not to that level yet
but vital for your needs and actions to have met

As here's to eating less and doing more
be it your motto for active legs and a stagnant jaw
So let the thoughts become real deeds
lower the ratio of your hand to mouth feeds

Push through the lazy to exercise for fun
Keep ahead of the Reaper so it's Life's race that's won
Yes relish the Lettuce and to the Salad thou shall 'Honour'
before you become an unfit,
                                                 morbidly obese
                                                                            and 'So Sorry Gonna!!'

Happy New Year and Happy New You!
                                                 X
