No Room For Compassion

No Room For Compassion

What do you want me to do with this rural guy, pray,
what crime has he committed, nothing so they say,
and yet he continues to cause unrest, what a pest,
perhaps he should concede, after all, he doesn't know best.

He's not a governor like me, nor a king anyway,
are we expected to listen to what he has to say?
Methinks not, the metaphorical heretic has no trick,
there's nothing I can do, the stigma will always stick.

We could try some reform to help him on his way,
keep him in decent environs so that he can pray,
to be more forthright, remember his position on this Earth,
only then, maybe he will realize what he is worth.

Our course of action is clear, he will read Theronicus,
repent, all ten volumes and show respect to all of us.
