Not Bouncing Back

Not Bouncing Back

prejudice and discrimination
has a hierarchy in operation,,
which I've just witnessed.
in a play about Bouncers
set in the eighties,
at a nightclub party,
the antics of doormen,
revolving like dancers..
I didnt hear about..
stick thin weirdo men,
not a peep about bald
headed creeps, or ginger
nuts and specky geeks,
nor ladies from a hotter
climate, .thin on the lino
were pot bellied wino's,
but top of the list..
Was a fat bird pissed !
and oh how the audience
laughed..but not me..
I laughed like a girl
in the hollow of a tree..
My you dont sweat much
for a fat lass..
too big ! too big !
look at that mass..
walk on let it pass,
Fat fat fat..
forty years passed..
and you see it in a play
bold as brass,
it's only a depiction
of one mans fiction,
But it was true back then,
they're
nasty and cruel..
and the one tool of
a playwright with wit -
is to reach out to
his audience
and make them feel shit.
Again.
