OCD World

It seems suddenly we're living
In an OCD world
Washing, cleaning
A fear of germs and viruses.
Maybe out of all proportion.
I understand these people's fears:
I've been living with them many years.
And I've been taught how to cope.

We're in a paralysed situation.
Can't shake hands
Afraid of doorknobs
Washing when we get home
Fearful of taking a chance
Half- forgetting that living
Means taking risks.

Governments panicking
Ensuring shops, pubs and
Restaurants must close
Though the death rate from
Coronavirus is very low-
And many who die have underlying
Conditions.
Many are old and each life created
Is ultimately terminal.

Many without OCD don't know
How it feels
Only now learning how to cope
Since now the fear is real.
