Ode To Imperfection

To imperfection I lift up my voice.
Happy words for so an unlikely choice.
For beauty lies in the flawed and the soiled
and nobility in the serpent coiled.
A fallen man is a sight to behold.
A treasure more precious than purest gold.
His fallen mate is much more precious still
for in her wasted beauty lie our ills.
In tainted love our father did conceived
a fallen race whose blood we have received.
Adam loved Eve more than God's love itself
and cast away perfect love from himself.
And as the cautionary story goes
that imperfection begets more is known,
until there is nothing but dirty souls,
dirty souls, dirty clothes, mothy holes.
What rejoicing lies in this tale of woe?
What hope in our sad state that we can know?
Hope lies in sin proving redemption real,
that there is a love that sin cannot kill.
So I rejoice in our imperfect state
And lift up words of joy as I elate.
Imperfection is most beautiful still
when we consider it God’s perfect will.
Yes imperfection has a righteous place.
An arrow pointing to that state of grace.
Imperfection is beautiful you see
in its holy promise for you and me.
