~ Of Bygone Days ~
Long shadows creep, like Cajun moss,
pain lingers long, of bitter loss.
Cruel winter winds whip, whine, and toss
my hushed soliloquy.
Β
Those pale, gaunt ghosts of days gone by,
soon speak to me, although I try,
to just sit silently and cry,
mired in my misery.
Β
The day she leftβso cold, it was.
And I, bereft, stayed here because
the dreams we shared, as true love does,
had died so suddenly.
Β
Although Iβve vowed to carry on
with all the hopes we shared as one,
the sun has set, my time is doneβ
as Death has come for me.
Β
Iβve no regretsβIβll leave this place
dream once again to see her face.
Enraptured by her warm embrace
for all eternity.

I'm guessing this poem comes directly from your own experience, as the sadness is extremely palpable. Wonderfully written, Dean.
Yes, it most surely does, Ian.
But it helps to write about it sometimes.
Thanks so much for reading. As always, I appreciate your thoughtful comments.
