Oh Happy Days

“Oh Happy Days!, Oh Happy Days!”, when our precious Angels walked;
The trails on their dear Mother Earth, their footprints ever caulked!
We were so very fortunate, to have been right at their sides;
As they Baptized bushes and hydrants, they strutted with puppy pride!
.
There were days when we’d go to see their friends, or they would come our way;
They would greet them at our front door, then they’d frolic and they’d play!
Sometimes out in the backyard, fenced in for safety’s sake;
They would cavort, then come back indoors, Florida’s sun their bodies baked!
.
We’d have cold water and treats waiting, they slurped and scarfed them down;
Then being kind of tired, they would lay in beds we had around!
We would watch them as they slumbered, hear them snore and saw some ZZZs;
The most precious sounds we’d ever heard, such innocence one rarely sees!
.
But time went by so quickly, each year felt more like months;
They each got sick for just a few days, then left us all at once!
“Oh Happy Days!, Oh Happy Days!”, you have turned to ones of pain;
For our Beloved Boys have left us, with tears that e’er remain!
.
.
Laughter turns to tears
When your Soulmates sail away
Their void ne’er filled
Today is the first day of The Summer of 2018
This Summer brings a dichotomy of joy and tears
“Joy” for our Angel Nico, born July 26th, 2001
“Tears” for our Angel Cody, left us on August 5th, 2017

Great poem Larry and the Fonz was not mentioned !!!
Dear Kieran,
No, but I did make an allusion to the actor who played "The Fonz", when I talked about them Baptizing bushes and hydrants with their "Twinkler Systems".
Thanks for the cute comment.
Peace and Love,

This is about loved ones, which could be ranging from man's best friend to kids and more. Your wording is spectacular and rhyming awesome. I enjoyed your fantastic poem. Kudos.
soo nice to read from your pen again, Pleez do add your thoughts to my newest poem too, titled, "jumbo jets vs..jays". I like to know different conclusions and say hi to poets thereby in this cold world.

Dear S. zaynab,
Yes, you are absolutely right! I always hope that when I write about the loss of my two beloved puppies, that people who are suffering with grief from other loved ones, will feel the same as I do.
Thank you for your much appreciated praise.
I shall go to your site, make a copy of your poem, and write a comment in the wee hours of the morning, which is when I do most of my writing.
Peace and Love,
Larry xx
Awww, always a pleasure to here a tribute to your beloved canines my friend.
And a reminder to make the most of their love when they are with us.

My Dear Friend John,
Whenever you respond to one of these poems I write about them, I can always feel the love in your heart and Soul for dear sweet doggies.
As you say, one must make the most of every day with them, for their stay is so terribly abbreviated.
Love and Arf Arfs,
Larry xxx
Our Dear Cherie,
We are vacillating over whether to try and have those "Happy Days" again.Â
There are many factors that will determine if we go for it.Â
Meanwhile, as you remember your Jade, our Angels Nico and Cody are forever in our hearts and Souls.
All our love,
Linda and Larry xxxÂ
