Old Flames Start Over

Old Flames Start Over

Young in love, we fell so very hard, I took a bite of the apple, and we shared it

The passion was erotic, it was the juices of the fruit, dripping all over our bodies

We couldn't stop breathing so hard, and shaking into a frenzy of crazy lust

Old flames, start over, they never really go out, I have kept you deep inside me

Over all these years, you were the first, you were the love of my life, even in the rain

I felt happy, I felt as though I was walking in mid air, just floating, like an angel

You made me a part of your life, you gave me the first bite, you made me into a woman

I have no regrets, I have only shadows, hanging in my closet, I find them in a box

Pictures of the dances, the prom, the night we fell more in love, the fire was melting

Melting away my heart, for one day, one lost promise, I will meet you in the corner

Of a bookstore, in a movie theater, maybe a baseball game, maybe a car race

But we will meet up again, one day, and the old flames will fire up, they will roar

And this time we will make it to the finish line, start your engine, as I will rev up mine

Holy Crap NANCY!!...........you know...... I think this is the second time I've read something of yours that surprised me...........I'm so used to your dedication to the American Indian..........that when you do these romantic pieces I'm not prepared and oh so pleasantly surprised.........this is so well conceived.........and so beautifully delivered that I felt like I was transported back to the days of my VERY first Love.........your phrasing is so perfect that I am reminded that not only is your role that of a historical documentarian..........but a romantic woman.........and romantic poet with depth of soul and the amazing gift of wordsmith!!.........thanx for the lovely reminder...........well done my friend..............Love and Rockets!!.............T xo
