Old Habits

Old Habits

We often stand at the crossroads
With four very different directions to go
And the one we end up taking
Is the only one we already know

It's not even that we're playing it safe
It's just the other paths are unfamiliar
And we are the ones we expect to see
When gazing into the old family mirror

Albert Einstein says that insanity
Is doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome
It's like doing the exact same thing
Is our constant rule of thumb

Old habits are like cockroaches
When you try to smash them they scatter
They dodge and weave effortlessly
And dig them selves deeper into our grey matter

We need to break the chains
And this never ending cycle
We need our days and nights
To not constantly recycle

We have to put into this world
Something creative and new
We need to think outside the box
For time to remember you
