On This Midsummer Afternoon...( Sonnet)
Release

On this midsummer afternoon, the wind
Is gently blowing. The leaves on the trees
Are swaying and just being. Light pours in
Through my open car window, as I dream
About many things: commonplace and profound,
About your eyes filled with wondrous moonlight,
About late June’s gold and green. Love has found
A way finally through blood and fire’s trials.
O I feel reborn, and I’m beginning
To have great expectations! I can hear
Dozens of blackbirds. They’re sweetly singing.
My mind is clear of all worries and fears.
I can sense the grass breathing and growing,
And pure forms of life, like rivers, flowing.

Beautiful
Thanks Marion. I'm just familiarising myself with this site, but will post more work later.
Dominic a little bit of calm and the balm of quietude permeates though-out your poem.
And a much needed poetic breather in today's hectic society.
A captivating write and thanks for sharing.
Thanks Shaun. I'm quickly familairising myself with this site and it seems very good; much better than the one that is now, so caked in advertising, it's impossible to read anything, or write about anything for that matter...ha,ha!
Good luck on that front Dominic you'll persevere and glad you can see the difference already with feedback from members who give a poetry damn and the advertising on here is not up close and personal (buy our product or we shoot the dog)Â desperation either or that maddening pop-up type.
Back late tonight to catch-up, duty calls for now and enjoy this site and what its caring members and format has to gladly offer.
your senses permeate the realm of inner space! cool write!....................Jim
