Only a Piece that Fades

Only a Piece that Fades

Never really matching the colors of my clothing, just different, I guess

Only a piece that fades into a family that is self absorbed, not really looking

Not seeing the way I do, what I do, not giving praise when needed, only discouraging

Words, that make no sense, always seeing others, and giving them applause

Comparing me to my sister, which we are not alike, it is always awkward, always a test

Never sure which way to turn, who to talk to, who to trust, only a piece of me

Continues to try, to be the best that I can be, only I know inside, that I am me

And the pieces may some day come together, maybe someday they will know the real me

Or maybe I shall just slip away, fade into another shade, and find myself, all to myself

Just wondering why a family can not see the beauty, that they hare created is the piece

To a meaningful relationship, to a future brighter than life, and I will someday show them

I shall fly away in glory, with the pieces of love that I will make up for my own

Just wondering why a family can not see the beauty, that they hare created is the piece

To a meaningful relationship, to a future brighter than life, and I will someday show them
