Open up

Open up

Entrapped in the mind
Shackled to conformity
Layden, dark and blind
into oblique enormity
Colours feel opaque
Obscuring the sight
Transparent in the wake
Yearning to see light
Open up the heavy door
The Sky’s within reach,
Life's not just a chore
It’s lessons to impeach
The veil someday must rise
So question what is true
Find yourself inside
Now look at the view

It's very hard to put into words how living on this planet does to us, the sun blinds us and the system binds us to the ground, you have captured something here and it makes me feel good that I'm not the only one who thinks this way, let me know when you find some meaning to this world.

Hi Gerard, thank you so much for your words, I really appreciate them. I think many people have a similar view of "the system" in which we live...we all must conform in one way or another I lost meaning for a time, yet I feel seeing clearly allows you to see the beauty this world has to offer. Conformity has its place for those who wish to follow, yet art allows us to push those boundaries

Immaculately conceived piece reflecting on our place in the scheme of things, allowing the reader to ask about our relevance and significance. This is quality work analysing and questioning Mans reasoning behind actions that seem to bear no perception or understanding of our scale. We are part of existence and not masters of it so should adjust our rationale accordingly !
Thanks for sharing.
Love and hugs.

My Dear Lorna,

Look now deep into your soul
Figure out what makes you whole
Then nurture it with all your heart
You'll find your life will then restart

Hugs, Peace and Love,

Hello  Larry, thank you for your lovely poem

I have seen into my soul
and found the missing piece
finally found the goal
where darkness seems to cease

I just love it when you let loose and write from the heart...as you, most assuredly, do here.
The stylistic coup in this piece is the brevity (as Shakespeare pointed out...it's "the soul of wit"); each line delivers a short, sharp shock to the solar plexus: driving your message home with relentless clarity.

The Sky's within reach

I adore this line particularly...partly because it's a good line...but mostly because, no-one in my life has shown me the truth of it the way YOU have.

I love it.
