Our Once Carefree

Freedom from lockdown

Our Once Carefree

Don't forget every lyric that was our carefree,
they've set hard like ice in a cold misery.
I feel an emotion, what's lost was divine,
the caress of a tear drowning out every line.
This lasting effect has us facing a wall,
as the essence of song begins to freefall.
They can't hold the distance in making things right,
as broken down lyrics fade from candlelight.
In tatters, torn pieces, why can't they reflect?
Perfecting our song became total neglect.
As music lays dormant, refusing to play,
on hold are the versus, our once yesterday.
While lyrics lay scattered upon my piano,
their memory holds clear in a sweet afterglow.
As musical voice begins healing the soul,
emotion hangs on to that feeling of whole.
Don't wipe out this chorus, remember its tune,
a beauty that lingered like scented perfume.
I'll trace back that feeling of sweet melody,
with past written lyrics, that were our carefree.
