Overcast

I sit and scour and search to find

A pleasant thought inside my mind.

With darkness gloomily entwined,

There seems to be no lighting.

And though I try, continue fighting

My inner demon scratching, biting...

The hanging noose seems so inviting:

I find it hard to battle.

I feel as if I’m simply cattle,

Prepared to slaughter, chains that rattle,

Against the wall I’m tightly shackled;

To this there’s no escape.

So if by chance I’m found so late

Amongst the noose, like curtains draped.

As I approach the pearly gates

Perhaps I’ll find some lighting.
