A Painted Smile

A painted smile across my face
Tells the lies I’ve hid so long
Eyes they see me but not really
The pain I feel I also prolong
To voice the agony deep within
Would only start up a torrid storm
Of hate and violence long engrained
That caused me to transform
Into this unfeeling lifeless doll
With a painted smile across my face
That hides stories of degradation and torture
Inflicted upon me by my lover’s embrace
Not an embrace of love
But one of iciness and cruelty
That has frozen me in time
And consumes me profusely

a smile painted on lips of scorn!
an emotion well portrayed here! a pain covered in hopelessness resulting in a numb soul!
Exactly and so many women live this day after day after day!Until they leave this earth!:-(
