Paper Heart Cut Out
In first grade, my first admire, he had freckles and red hair
He would make me laugh, and all of that, it made me feel really good
It was just puppy love, nothing more, nothing less, though when Valentine's Day
Came around, I felt pitter patter in my heart, I wanted to make him a special gift
Just from me to him, I did the thing most kids do, when only in grade school
I took a red piece of paper, folded it over, once, twice, then as many times possible
Took my scissors from my desk drawer, and cut tiny little shapes, then unfolded it gently
I laid it on his desk seat, wrote my name on the other side, it said " Valentine" Be Mine!
I was blushing, as red as the color of the paper, my heart cut out, with my own hands
He left me a note, it said "thank you" and Happy Valentine's Day, to the one who cut out
The prettiest heart, from paper, that I have ever seen, signed, Timothy
With a handmade heart wrapped around, his favorite pencil, pretending to be the arrow
Well, this is my story, of a puppy love affair, I was shy, girlish, and silly
But, IÂ will never forget, my first valentine, made of paper
A heart cut out, not perfect, not exact, just special, the way I felt inside
Even the smallest things we create, mean more than any big thing in life,
Happy Valentine's Day! Timmy, (Diego) Â thirty-five years later!
Love, Your first girlfriend, from first grade, Crazy Carol!
