Paper Rain
Staring from her luminous cloakÂ
her eyes huge and round spilled
sublime tears soaking my skin
in sadness that bore through to
ivory bones breaking with the
weight from all the wistful dreams ofÂ
yearning for a thousand what-if’s
maybe’s, and could I have been
yours and only your one truth in
an ocean of lies that licks the earth
with venomous tongue and coils as
a black serpent around the heart
clenching and squeezing each breath
from the fragility of the bloody petals
each embracing one another to formÂ
the pretty pink roses that wreak of
the perfume that still lingers in theÂ
corridors of my mind that stains
each thought of your smile and so
the paper rain falls from the sky in
shards from her eyes, poor moon
she knows no other way to shine.

Caron I really like this but it feels like it comes from a dark place that needs escaping from. Travel well, friend.
Nigel
Hi Nigel, I've been reading a lot of Sylvia Plath the last couple of days, so this poem was quite heavily influenced by her work, and of course, her poetry was always a little 'dark'. I'm a huge fan of hers and I find her writings perhaps sombre, but also very beautiful, which I tried to achieve.
Kind regards xx
Ah, that explains it. You wear her influence well
Oh thank you Nigel, that is a huge compliment! xx
